Athlete Video: The Time is Now for a Judicial Inquiry into Canadian Sport

5 December 2022: Global Athlete shares this video on behalf of 1000+ Canadian athletes who continue to call for a judicial inquiry into the abuse crisis occurring across Canadian sport.
At its core, this abuse crisis is a human rights crisis – and it can no longer be handled by the sporting systems that have failed and harmed Canadian athletes time and time again.
To all the athletes that have called for change in Canadian sport and continue to advocate for a judicial inquiry, we are listening and we will continue to support you.
A Message from Gymnasts for Change Canada
Gymnasts for Change Canada, along with Global Athlete, is launching a social media movement using the hashtag #SportSurvivor.
Our intention with this movement is to let athletes know they are not alone in their experiences of abuse in sport and that their voice plays a meaningful part in ensuring future children and athletes have a safe and joyful sport experience.
We welcome you to participate by sharing a story, photo, video, or simply just the hashtag #SportSurvivor to your social media account. We hope that by doing this, it will help spread awareness of the pervasiveness of abuse in sport.
It is also our hope that our collective voices will illustrate the importance of prioritizing athlete safety across all sports and that this movement will build a community of sport survivors through support, solidarity and strength in numbers.
