Olympian Bree Schaaf joins Global Athlete as its new Program Manager

8 April 2020: Global Athlete is proud to announce the appointment of Olympian Bree Schaaf as its new Program Manager. Bree was a member of the US Bobsleigh Team from 2007-2014, competing at the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Games. Prior to her bobsleigh career, Bree competed on the US National Skeleton Team from 2003 to 2007.

Today Bree stays involved by coaching international Para Bobsleigh athletes, serving as the US Olympic and Paralympic Committee Athletes’ Advisory Council 2nd Vice-Chair, and recently finished a 6-year term as an elected athlete representative to the US Bobsled and Skeleton Federation Board of Directors. In 2009, Bree started work as a color commentator and has been performing commentary and play-by-play for sliding sports over several national and international broadcast networks and streaming services. Bree also joined the NBC Olympics team as their skeleton analyst and sliding sports correspondent at the 2014 and 2018 Winter Olympics.

“We are thrilled to have Bree as a part of the Global Athlete team. Bree brings her experiences as an athlete, an athlete committee leader, a coach and as a broadcaster. Her strong support for athlete rights will help further guide the organization.” said Rob Koehler Global Athlete Director General.

“I feel fortunate to have found a passion beyond competitive sport in athlete advocacy, and am even further inspired by this great opportunity to enact change through the tremendous reach and industry reform potential of Global Athlete.” added Bree Schaaf.

Bree will take on several roles with Global Athlete including athlete engagement, media relations and strategic planning.
