Global Athlete Program Manager

Global Athlete is an international athlete-led movement whose aim is to inspire and lead positive change in world sport, and collectively address the current imbalance of power between athletes and sporting leaders. Our work  helps athletes gain a more represented voice in world sport.

We are an organization established by Athletes, for Athletes. We want:

  • To secure a better balance of power between athletes and sporting leaders.

  • A more meaningful and representative athlete voice for all decisions in sport.

The Location

As a truly modern movement, Global Athlete has adopted a decentralized approach whereby the selected candidate can work remotely, in their own country.

The Position

This is a Full-time position. Global Athlete is seeking a self-motivated, purpose-driven, hardworking individual who wants to contribute to changing the sport landscape for the better through enhanced athlete engagement and communications.

The core functions of this position include:

  • Writing, editing and publishing official correspondence and public statements.

  • Developing content, managing and updating social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn).

  • Working with athletes and athlete group to develop strategies for  elevating their position in sport.

  • Updating website contents with Global Athlete’s web provider.

  • Working with the Global Athlete Board members and team on strategic planning and positioning.

  • Developing and maintaining trusted relationship with athletes and athlete groups.

  • Building and maintaining relationships with media.

  • Liaising with stakeholders.

  • Develop event briefs and manage event logistics, where required.

Profile/Skills

The successful candidate will possess:

  • Undergraduate degree or related experience.

  • Experience with human right and/or athlete advocacy an asset

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • The proven ability to work within a team context as well as independently.

  • Sensitivity to cultural diversity and demonstrated record of work within an international context.

  • Strong organizational skills.

  • Strong computer skills including website and social media management.

  • Strong knowledge and experience with international sport.

  • An athlete first, positive attitude.
