Our Work
Open letter to IOC and IPC from Ukrainian Athletes
Ukrainian Athletes to call on you in your leadership capacity of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and International Paralympic Committee (IPC) to immediately suspend the Russian and Belarusian National Olympic and Paralympic Committees. Any suspension must also include the banning of all athletes from international sport, including the 2022 Beijing Paralympic Games.
The Global Sport and Anti-Doping System Needs Immediate Reform
Today is another example of the failures of the global sport and anti-doping system. Statement on the Kamila Valieva ruling.
Global Athlete Statement on Kamila Valieva
There are three organizations to blame for Kamila Valieva's positive test: the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), the International Olympic Committee (IOC), and the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
The International Olympic Committee is Failing Athletes’ Rights
With less than one month to the 2022 Beijing Olympic Games, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) continues to press forward with hosting the Games, placing the safety and wellbeing of every athlete at risk.
2021: End of the Year Message from FairSport and Global Athlete
Dear Athletes and Supporters of Fair and Ethical Sport,
As 2021 comes to an end, our small, dedicated team at FairSport and Global Athlete thank you for your continued support.
FairSport is as committed as ever to eradicating cheating in sport. We continue to support whistleblowers and promote clean sport around the world. Additionally, we are fully committed to helping athletes through our ongoing support of Global Athlete.
The International Olympic Committee Continues to Choose Business, Politics, and Money Over Peng Shuai’s Safety
Today the International Olympic Committee (IOC) doubled down on “quiet diplomacy,” failing once again to mention Peng Shuai’s allegations of sexual assault. It appears that the IOC too is subject to Beijing’s censorship, as their actions are clearly meant to appease the Chinese Authorities rather than ensure Peng’s safety.
WADA Continues to Refuse Meaningful Reform
On the eve of the World Anti-Doping Agency’s Executive Committee and Foundation Board meetings, we call on all stakeholders, particularly governments, to support athletes’ repeated calls for a fully independent WADA Executive Committee; including the provision of a voting seat at the decision-making table for independent athlete representative organizations.
Global Athlete Statement in Response to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) President and IOC Athletes’ Commission Chair Video Call with Peng Shuai
Today, the IOC showed a complete disregard for allegations of sexual violence and abuse against athletes. By taking a nonchalant approach to Peng Shuai’s disappearance and by refusing to mention her serious allegations of sexual assault, IOC President Thomas Bach and the IOC Athletes’ Commission demonstrate an abhorrent indifference to sexual violence and the well-being of female athletes.
Global Athlete Calls on the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to Suspend the Chinese Olympic Committee Until Peng Shuai is Proven Safe
Tennis player Peng Shuai has been missing since she accused a former top Communist Party official of sexual assault more than two weeks ago. We condemn the IOC for staying silent on the three-time Olympian’s disappearance. The IOC has a duty to care for its athletes. Silence is unacceptable.
